1ST ANNUAL GOSPEL CHOIR FEST
On Sunday, September 18th, One Dollar Enterprises, Inc.
presented the Faith Tabernacle Church choir of Lincolnton, GA (picture above),
with a $1,000.00 seed offering for being the official winner of the first Annual Gospel Choir Fest that was held on August
20th at Beulah Grove Baptist church.
The Fest, hosted by the dynamic Evangelist Sctonda Kelly,
a radio personality on 99.1 FM, featured choirs and gospel groups from all over the CSRA. Special guests included Mayoral
Candidate Helen Blocker-Adams, who spoke to the audience, and the National Society of Engineers. They received a love offering of over $390.00 dollars from the audience for their scholarship fund. Featured
acts included One Dollar Enterprise’s gospel touring choir and dance ensemble
led by Nina Scott and Cynthia Williams of Augusta.
The competing groups included Faith Tabernacle Choir,
B.I. Rosa Vernan Young Adult Choir, EQUE and the Band, B.A.R.A.K., and Youth in Action for Christ with a special presentation
by the In His Presence Dance Ministries. Participants ranged from children choirs to mass choirs to ensembles, with the entrant with the highest praise being selected by three professional
judges from the CSRA - Alvin Franklin, Marlin Stokes and Nicole Bright of Phat Traxx Productions.
As uplifting as the evening was, it did not end without
controversy. The initial winning group was EQUE and the Band, but due to their own group member's admission on stage
during their performance that they had produced a CD that has been playing on the radio station, they had to be disqualified
for being a professional artist.
The audience’s response to the entire event was
overwhelming and One Dollar Enterprises, Inc. will produce this event as a yearly event to include praise dance, choirs, and solo artists next August.
