DAY 3
(January 3rd, 1996 EXCERPT FROM BOOK)

Today we began to present this "Cooperative economics" concept to Atlantans with our first speaking engagement to the Black Secretaries Association. This would turn out to become the first day of a 360 day speaking engagement to promote a dream of economic empowerment within the African American community. The overwhelming question I was asked was about my motives and desires to raise one million dollars in one year. The answer is merely to physically prove to us all that in the city that is too busy to hate, we are not too busy to support our community.

(EXCERPT FROM BOOK)
This book was written with two issues in mind to enlighten and not incite the opinions of the reader. The first aspect is to help us put in perspective why we treat each other the way we do, why we have not collectively prospered in business like our counterparts when all the information and opportunities seem to be here. The last and most important aspect is that after we have put in perspective what 400 years of slavery have done to us, we could use this roadmap as a call to action to define the steps to achieve collective excellence within our community.

DAY 81(March 21,1996 EXCERPT FROM BOOK)

Today began like many other days, waking early to begin a filled day of events. I started by opening up my appointment book, saying a small prayer, and diving straight into making phone calls. The program to this point has been wearying on me very much until that one phone call. A lady whom I had the pleasure of speaking to during her visit to Brightside Academy called to tell me she appreciated what I was doing in Atlanta. She was so excited that I could not contain my enthusiasm. She made me believe that this program of unity is a very needed objective and a definitely achievable goal. My spirit is refueled for another day.

DAY 175 (June 23,1996 EXCERPT FROM BOOK)

As I sit in a local fast food restaurant contemplating the termination of the years movement and how extremely difficult it has been to date, GOD sent a spirit to touch my heart. This spirit in the form of a young African American male, just came up to me and sat down at my table and begin to solicit me for money. He said "man I needs hep to get away from dis bitch, can ya give me some money to california?" soft spoken and obviously uneducated as he was, all I saw was a victim of society. You see he and I were not that different looking, and our roles could have easily been reversed.

DAY 229 (August 16,1996 EXCERPT FROM BOOK)

Today after feeling the pain over dealing with my people first hand since january of this year, I finally allowed my disappointment to show. One of my members of the Leads Club had invited me to meet with the owner and general manager of a black owned and operated night club and restaurant in which i wanted to show appreciation to my members for the support over the struggle for the one million dollar pledge. After arriving at the club, my car was valet parked and I saw very nice cars and well dressed black people walking into the club. I should have left my political feelings outside of the club because I immediately felt as if was in the wrong place. I would have preferred to go in the community and help my homeless brothers and sisters.
